Restaurants
Buttermilk Ranch
Our favorite breakfast spot in Nashville! Everything on the menu is amazing, but make sure to try their fresh pastries. This popular neighborhood spot, located in 12 South, gets busy in the morning, so wake up early to grab a table. No reservations available.

Von Elrod’s is a great place to catch up with friends and family. For those traveling in large parties, this spot is made for groups looking for a fun, laid-back atmosphere. While beer and “Big Ass Mimosas” flow by the pint, we recommend saving room for some of their amazing smoked meats. Their Brisket Grilled Cheese is one of a kind.

Von Elrod’s
This intimate Lebanese restaurant is where we celebrated our first anniversary. Tucked away in the 12 South neighborhood, this cozy bistro is a perfect place to celebrate the weekend with your partner. Not suitable for large groups. Reservations encouraged.

Epice
ML Rose
Our go-to burger spot in Nashville! Emily recommends the Taproom Burger and Thicc Ranch (yes, that’s actually what they call it), and Joey recommends everything. ML Rose has multiple locations across the city, so check online to find the closest one to you!

Edley’s Bar-B-Que
If you’re looking for some good Southern BBQ, check out Edley’s. This is our favorite place to take out-of-town guests to get a taste of the South. It’s casual and a great place to stop on your way in or out of town. Locations across the city.
Category: BBQ | Price: $
House of Cards
House of Cards is a one-of-a-kind experience you won’t find anywhere else. This gothic speakeasy restaurant is securely located inside the Johnny Cash Museum, hidden behind the “supply room’ door. Enjoy an amazing meal and catch some of the close-up magicians before your magic show in the Carter Theatre, located inside the restaurant. We went here for an anniversary and were blown away by the whole experience. Reservations required.

The Iberian Pig
Category: Tapas | Price: $$$
We went here for Emily’s 26th birthday back in January this year and have been raving about it ever since. You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, but definitely try their Patatas Bravas while you’re there! If you’re looking to go out afterwards, walk over to LA Jackson (see below) or the W Hotel to enjoy a cocktail with a view of the city.
Bars, Breweries, & Vineyards
LA Jackson
LA Jackson is our favorite bar in the city! Centrally located in the Gulch, this bar is Broadway’s cooler older sister. While it tends to get very lively in the evening, there is a lot of seating. We love coming here with friends on a night out.
Broadway
Grab your cowboy boots and head on down to Broadway for some live country music at one of the famous Honky Tonks,. If you’re not into large crowds, try going during the day, it’s less busy, and people under 21 are allowed in.;
Printer’s Alley
Swap the country music for jazz on Pinter’s Alley. You’ll find speakeasies, jazz rooms, and a perfect nightcap here, just steps from the hustle and bustle of Broadway. We love Skull’s Rainbow Room for live jazz.
Brew Hop Tour
While we haven’t tried this out personally, we thought this would be a great option for our beer-lovers. The Brew Hop Tour is a hop-on-hop off trolley that stops at 7, amazing breweries around the city. Bearded Iris is Joey’s favorite brewery and he recommends trying the Homestyle IPA while you’re there.
Diskin Cider
Emily is not a beer drinker, but loves the ambiance of a brewery, so Diskin Cider is her go-to. This cidery offers lots of different cider options to try and other local beers as well as small bits.
Arrington Vineyard
If even a few days in the city is not your thing, escape to Arrington Vineyards, just 40 minutes outside of Nashville. This hillside vineyard feels like you’ve stepped into Napa Valley and tastes like it too! They offer both sweet and dry reds and whites, so there is something for everyone. They have food trucks on site, but feel free to bring your own food
Ole Smokey Distillery
Moonshine anyone? If you’re looking for the hard stuff, you’ve come to the right place. Try some of the South’s favorite alcohol at Ole Smokey Distillery. They also offer a full bar plenty of options on draft along with delicious tacos and a fantastic outdoor area. We love to catch an Auburn game here during basketball season. ,
Activities
Centennial Park
Located just minutes from our apartment, Centennial Park is our go-to spot to walk our dog, Coda. This park has a scenic 1-mile loop with a beautiful green space, pond, and a full-sized replica of the Parthenon. Tours of the Parthenon are available for a small charge, but visiting the park is free.
The Grand Ole Opry
This iconic Nashville music venue is minutes from our wedding venue. During our wedding weekend, they will be celebrating 100 years with live performances from superstars, newcomers, and legends. If you like live music, we highly recommend catching a show while you’re in town.
The Bluebird Cafe
The Bluebird Cafe is one of the most unassuming live music venues in the city, but don’t let the modest street appeal fool you; this intimate venue has had some of the largest stars in country music walk across their ‘stage’. Tickets are hard to come by, but well worth it. Regardless of who is performing while you’re here, you’ll be glad you went.
Shopping in 12 South
One of Emily’s favorite shopping spots in the city, 12 South is home to household names and small boutiques. She loves the unique options 12 South has to offer and recommends shopping lovers check it out. Stop by Epice for a meal while you’re there!
